This webring links together amateur radio repeaters sites on the Internet within the UK. If you run an amateur radio repeater site but you are not within the UK, then why don't you setup a ring for your country? If you want help or advice on setting up a webring then visit www.webring.org or contact me. If you do create a webring, then let me know and I'll add it to the amateur radio webring gateway.

Each participating group adds a small amount of code to a page on their web site to create the ring control. This may be located anywhere on the site, but it is normally on the front or index page and is usually at the bottom of that page. Visitors to the site can then click on the appropriate buttons to move to other sites in the ring.

Contact myself, the Ringmaster (UKARRRing@Bigfoot.com) with any queries about the ring or to notify me of any dead links in the ring.

Bob Bilsland.

NOTE: if you bookmark this site, then please amend it to be http://www.bigfoot.com/~UKARRRing. This is because we use a website redirection service, this means that if we ever move our site, you will always be able to find us.

Joining the webring.
  1. Complete the registration form at the bottom of this page and press the Submit site to the queue button (Jump to the "Registration form").

IMPORTANT: You should quote the URL of the page where you intend the webring code to reside. This will be the page that visitors from the webring will arrive at.

A request will then be made for your site to be added to the UK Amateur Radio Repeater webring. You will receive a reply (and an email) containing your SITE ID number. This is required to uniquely identify your site in the ring. Your site will now be on a queue waiting to be added to the webring once the correct webring links have been included in your site.

  2. The next step is to add the appropriate HTML code and graphics to the front page of your site to provide the link to the webring and to allow people to navigate around it.

You will need the HTML code, this can be done by cutting and pasting the code out of the window below into your editor, or if you right click on the following link and select Save Target As... you can save the code directly to your hard drive (UKARRRing_HTML_Code.inc).

IMPORTANT: The code below is larger than the window, so if you are cutting and pasting the text make sure you scroll the window down as you cut to get all the code.

    HTML Code
  3. You will need to get a copy of the three images used within the code and upload them onto your website in the same directory as the page that the HTML code has been inserted into. This can be done by either right clicking on the images themselves below and selecting Save Picture As... or by right clicking on their names below the images and selecting Save Target As....

  4. Next, amend HTML code that you inserted into your page and amend:

IMPORTANT: Please note that some web publishing programs do strange things to raw HTML code - so please check your code carefully once you have uploaded it.

The above code, when inserted into your page should look like this.

    Ring
    site is owned by
    Mr A.N.Tenna.

  5. Send an email to the Ringmaster (UKARRRing@Bigfoot.com) confirming you have added the HTML code to your webpage, and stating your site ID number. (Please always quote your site title, URL and site ID number in any message).

  6. Once the Ringmaster has checked your webpage, and ensured the webring links are correctly formed, you will be added into the Ring. This will activate the links and make your site a full member of the webring. An automatic email will confirm this to you.

That's all there is, it wasn't too painful was it - But please feel free to contact the Ringmaster (UKARRRing@Bigfoot.com) if you have any queries about the ring or you have any difficulties.
